What is the NAPLEX?

It assesses a candidate’s knowledge and skills to ensure they can practice pharmacy safely and effectively. Passing the NAPLEX is a key requirement for pharmacist licensure in the United States.
Eligibility Requirements
- Completion of a Pharmacy Program: You must graduate from an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program approved by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
- Application for Licensure: Apply for licensure through your state board of pharmacy and meet their specific requirements.
- Eligibility Approval: Your state board of pharmacy must approve your eligibility before you can register for the NAPLEX.
- Registration with NABP: Create an account and register for the exam through the NABP website. The registration fee is $575.
Exam Format
The NAPLEX is a computer-based exam designed to evaluate your clinical knowledge and decision-making skills. Here’s what you need to know:
- Number of Questions: The exam consists of 225 questions, of which 200 are scored and 25 are pretest questions.
